Green Builder Wins Prestigious Parade Award at Austin Creek

At Wake Forest’s Austin Creek community, green means gold. Homes by Dickerson, a Raleigh-based green builder and developer has received a coveted Gold award in the 2009 Wake County Parade of Homes. Their gold winning home is lot 112 “Deacon Ridge,” the current show model at Austin Creek. The Deacon Ridge is priced at $219,900 and competed in Category 2, which features homes priced from $188,175 to $224,899.

The Deacon Ridge has achieved certifications by both Energy Star and the Green Home Builders of the Triangle. The 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath cottage home features HardiePlank® siding, walnut finish flooring throughout the first floor, chair rail and panels in the dining room and foyer, granite kitchen countertops, ceramic tile flooring in the bath and laundry rooms, and a fresh interior color scheme.

A condensed listing of green and energy saving features of the home includes EPA WaterSense faucets, Low E ENERGY STAR® windows, dual flush toilets, green certified carpets, and Low VOC paints. The Deacon Ridge, like all Homes by Dickerson cottages at Austin Creek, had to undergo independent third party testing and inspection to ensure compliance with established green standards.

“We are proud to receive the Gold award for our Austin Creek entry,” said Linwood Strickland, President of Homes by Dickerson. “It is all the more rewarding that our category winner is green certified and energy efficient.”

The Wake County Parade of Homes is presented by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County. The final weekend of the Parade is October 16-18 with homes available for viewing from 12-5pm. To learn more visit www.hbawake.com

It’s that time again. The Parade of Homes is in full swing, showcasing the best of the new homes available in the Triangle. This past weekend was the first of the three weekends of the Parade. We had many people come out and see the model home, which has been furnished for the parade. But, don’t feel like you need to come out with the crowd, our sales center is open Saturday – Wednesday and by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays. The community is located, on Highway 98, just past the new Lowe’s Food shopping Center.

Green with Envy

That’s what all your friends will be after seeing how little you paid for a brand new Energy Star and GREEN built home in Austin Creek. That’s right all of our homes are to be built Bronze certified green by the Green Home Builders of the Triangle. So you may ask, what does it mean to Green? Well… All of our homes have sealed conditioned crawl spaces to reduce moisture and temperature change in the crawl space, which can cause loss of heating/cooling in the home. Our homes also feature Low-E windows to reduce energy loss. This might sound crazy but the plywood used to cover the roof actually has a foil backing to reduce heat build up in the attic, thus reducing energy costs.

There are many more great Green features that Homes by Dickerson includes in these homes at an affordable price. Come on out and see how it doesn’t take a lot of $$$ to make a home green.

Okay, we’re mixing company slogans here, but sometimes creativity is limiting. By now many of you have already discovered the awesome value of the Redbox movie rental service. There is a Redbox kiosk located in the new Lowe’s Food Store just two minutes from Austin Creek.

What many of you may not be aware of is that you can reserve movies online so that you can quickly get in and out while at the store on a Friday or Saturday night. Also, there is that added benefit of snagging a movie before someone else because the machine will hold that movie for you all day until you pick it up. So on Friday morning when you get into the office sign in to your redbox account reserve a movie and pick it up with the Friday night pizza at Lowe’s! Of course, the rental is only $1 so it fits in any budget. Heck, get one for the kids and another for yourself after the kids go to bed. Go Big Spender!
